The Freud Photographs

These 16 images are part of a much larger series that explores Sigmund Freud’s pre-war Vienna, and subsequently follows him to London. After the Nazis annexed Austria in 1938, Freud fled with his wife and daughter to England. The series also includes photographs of Hitler’s Vienna, as well as works of art and self-reflections captured by the artist through the lens of “Freud’s looking-glass.”
